Rain delayed the start of a major construction project on Monday.
The Ohio Department of Transportation was supposed to start a $5.8 million project that will completely overhaul the Interstate 680 and U.S. Route 224 interchange. The work includes widening the bridge, redoing several ramps and replacing a culvert on Route 224 east of Interstate 680.
However, crews were unable to start the work as planned on Monday night because of the rain.
U.S. 224 will eventually be reduced to one lane in each direction and ramps will be closed during the course of construction.
Motorists also can expect various lane restrictions at the intersection of Tiffany Boulevard and U.S. 224. To help reduce the impact on traffic, those restrictions will happen overnight between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
State Route 45 in Bristol Township will be closed for 14 days just north of Route 88 for a culvert replacement. The detour will be Route 88 to Route 534 to Route 87. This is the beginning of a $288,000 project to replace a bridge and culvert on Routes 45 and 534.
U.S. Route 422 between Route 616 and Struthers-Liberty Road will closed through early October for a bridge replacement.
