A Weathersfield Township girl died Tuesday after her mother found her face down in a pool just before 1 p.m.

Officials said the girl was not responding and was taken to an area hospital. Weathersfield Township Trustees held a moment of silence at their meeting Tuesday for the girl and her family.

Her mother, Maria Reynolds, also posted news of the toddler’s death on her Facebook page. According to Reynolds, the girl’s name is Marina Nicole Baugher and she turned 2 in June.

The girl’s mother told investigators she thought the girl was inside their 1359 Emerson Avenue home and realized she couldn’t find her. The mother went outside and found the girl in their backyard pool.

Officials said the girl’s mother performed CPR until emergency personnel arrived.
