Pregnant woman held in custody drop claims abuse

MCKEESPORT, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania police chief says he’ll review surveillance video which shows part of an incident in which a pregnant woman was arrested during a child custody exchange only to have her claim she was roughed up by police.

Twenty-six-year-old Krista Abram, of McKeesport, says officers tackled her, though that can’t be seen on the video in which officers responded to a custody dispute in a parking lot Sunday night.

The father of the 5-year-old girl at the center of the dispute says Abram was “out of control” and pushed an officer, who Abram believed was wrongly removing the girl from her custody so she could visit her father.

Abram can be seen gesturing at officers, who chase her out of the camera’s view.

McKeesport Chief Brian Washowich says he’s reviewing the incident.
