A Warren woman was charged with stabbing her brother in the chest late Monday.

Kristina Burgess, 26, of Glenwood Street N.E., entered no plea Tuesday at her initial appearance in Warren Municipal Court on a second-degree felonious assault charge that carries an eight-year maximum penalty.

Bond was set at $20,000 and she is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 18.

Reports said Burgess and her 25-year-old brother argued at Burgess’ home, when she stabbed him in the right side of the chest with a kitchen knife.

The man told police while doctors and nurses at Trumbull Memorial Hospital were trying to stop his chest from bleeding that his sister stabbed him and a neighbor drove him to the hospital.

Officers noted the man was having difficulty breathing and talking. Officers apprehended Burgess at about 1 a.m. on Palmyra Road, reports said.
