Ohio woman’s remains returned from Indiana

CINCINNATI (AP) — The remains of a 21-year-old southwest Ohio woman found in Indiana 20 months after she went missing are still being tested.

Indiana State Police say Katelyn (KAYT’-lin) Markham’s remains have been returned to Ohio after nearly three months of expert examination in Indianapolis. Sgt. Neal Houze (HOWZ) says the Hamilton County coroner in Cincinnati will conduct more testing in the effort to determine the cause of death. That office referred questions to Indiana authorities.

Markham’s disappearance from her suburban Cincinnati home led to massive searches before her skeletal remains were found near a creek April 7. She was reported missing just days before she would have turned 22.

Indiana and Fairfield, Ohio, police have been working together on the investigation since her remains were identified April 10.
