Pet food drive benefits local shelters

PETDRIVE

Four local animal shelters are hoping Santa Claus makes a summertime visit.

A pet food drive is being held throughout the month of July to benefit four Mahoning Valley pet care centers, A Call Fur Help, For the Dogs Animal Rescue, Northeast Ohio Lab Rescue and West Side Cats will be collecting food and necessary goods at designated drop-off locations.

Organizers said that like most other charities, donations peak during the holiday season and then wane the rest of the year. The “Christmas in July” collection drive is an effort to restock supplies for the care of pets that do not have a home.

Dry and canned dog food, cat and dog treats, and cat litter can be dropped off at the following location until July 31:

  • Angels for Animals: 4750 West South Range Road, Canfield, Ohio
  • Cobblestone Corner: 6234 Market Street, Youngstown, Ohio
  • Kerpsack Veterinary Clinic: 707 South Meridian Road, Youngstown, Ohio
  • Meshel Workshop, Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities: 160 Marwood Circle, Boardman, Ohio
  • Petco: 317 Boardman-Poland Road, Boardman, Ohio
  • West Side Cats: 2217 Mahoning Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio
  • Santa Fe “The Southwestern Café” 2626 Mahoning Ave Youngstown, Ohio

Santa Fe also will offer a coupon for $1.00 off for donations dropped at their restaurant. Food donations can also be made online by clicking here.

Proceeds of the drive will be divided equally among the four non-profit organizations.
