The weather Wednesday evening may have played a role in a fatal accident in Mercer County.

The accident happened just before 6 p.m. on state Route 62, just north of Springfield Church Road in Coolspring Township.

State Police said William James Cupic, 18, of Mercer, lost control on the wet roadway and spun into oncoming traffic, crashing into two pickup trucks.

Police reports state a 17-year-old girl riding in the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say neither James or the victim were wearing seat belts.
