Rock band’s team gets attention in Ohio

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — A team of 6- to 8-year-old baseball players in Akron are enjoying the spotlight thanks to their team being backed by rock stars and local heroes The Black Keys.

It started when Patrick Carney, the drummer in the Grammy-winning duo, posted an Instagram photo of the Orioles of the West Akron Baseball League, the back of their jerseys emblazoned with the band’s name.

The Akron Beacon Journal ( ) reports that the team has since become a trending topic on the Internet with the photo showing up on many websites.

Orioles coach Kevin Floyd said only a few of the kids on the team knew about the band before — but they all do now. The league now plans to put replica shirts on sale to the public to raise money.
