BRADFORD, Pa. (AP) — A national company that provides natural gas well drilling products and services has closed its northwestern Pennsylvania office citing the slowing natural gas business and falling gas prices.
The Bradford Era (http://bit.ly/1atzCWX) reports Superior Well Services Inc. closed Tuesday in Bradford, about 130 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. Officials say 67 people worked at the business, some of whom will be laid off and others moved to other businesses controlled by parent company Nabors Industries.
The company’s web site says it provides “technical pumping and downhole surveying services” to oil and gas drillers. The company was founded in 1997 with two service centers but now operates in at least 20 states.
Nabors purchased Superior Well in 2010.
Equipment from the Bradford operation is being moved to Black Lick, Indiana County, about 50 miles east of Pittsburgh.
