YWCA demolition begins in Warren

The walls are starting to come down to make way for progress at a downtown Warren building.

Crews on Thursday were tearing down the outside walls to the pool area at the YWCA on Park Avenue.  The pool area will be filled in and replaced with a dozen apartments for women and their families who are at risk of becoming homeless.

The total cost of the project is $2 million.

The YWCA will partner with Beatitude House and Coleman Professional Services to operate the housing and provide the residents with supportive services.
