Scrappers drop 10th straight

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers lost their 10th straight game on Friday night, 2-1, to the Tri City Valley Cats.

The Valley Cats jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning. James Ramsey scored on a Scrappers throwing error, then Ryan Dineen hit a ground rule double, driving in the second run.

The scored remained 2-0 until the 8th inning, when Nellie Rodriguez hit a solo home run cutting the lead to 2-1. The Scrappers had the tying run at 3rd in the bottom of the 9th, but Claudio Bautista struck out swinging to end the inning.

Mahoning Valley (7-19) will host the Vermont Lake Monsters on Saturday at 7:05 at Eastwood Field.
