Slain UK soldier to be buried

LONDON (AP) — A funeral will be held today in northern England for the British soldier who was hacked to death in broad daylight on a London street in May.

The killing shocked Britain and much of the world, especially when one of the suspects boasted on video about the attack, as he held a weapon in his bloodied hands and the body could still be seen lying in the street.

Relatives of Lee Rigby say they’re deeply grateful for the support they’ve received from the public.

The funeral service in the town of Bury is private, but thousands of people are expected to line the streets and pay their respects to Rigby as his casket is carried through the center of town.

Two men charged in his killing are set to stand trial in November.
