Loew and Pavlik could meet in the ring

Southside Boxing’s Jack Loew could meet his former fighter Kelly Pavlik in the ring on Saturday, September 28 at Packard Music Hall in Warren.

Each would be trainers in a bout featuring Willie Nelson and Niles native Billy Lyell. Loew says he is currently 99 percent confident the deal will get done.

Pavlik said after his retirement that he wants to begin training area fighters. He could not be reached for comment.

Nelson is currently 21-1-1. He just earned his 21st victory with a unanimous decision over Luciano Cuello on June 29.

Lyell is a veteran fighter with a 25-11 record. His last fight came in February when he, too, earned a unanimous decision.

The deal could be signed as early as this week. We will continue to follow the story and provide updates as they become available.
