Police impersonator sought in Weathersfield

Police in Weathersfield are investigating after a driver was pulled over Monday evening by a man posing as a police officer.

Police said the incident took place around 8:30 p.m. in the area of Salt Springs Road and Interstate 80. The victim told police the man posing as a police officer  was white, approximately 6-feet tall with brown hair.

He was dressed in a dark blue uniform and was driving  a light blue Dodge Intrepid with a flashing blue and white light on the dashboard. He told the woman her lights were not working properly, but never asked for her identification or insurance information.

When the woman asked the man if she was going to get a ticket, he told her a ticket would be mailed to her, but he did not take her information. The alleged imposter followed the woman through Girard before turning around.
