Fashion Fix: Choose colors wisely

By Twinkle VanWinkle, LIN Lifestyle Expert

It’s ironic how most closets have more black, navy and brown than any other colors. These are the “safe” clothes we can all hide behind. In this Fashion Fix, certified image consultant Sola Adelowo discusses the need for color to boost self-confidence and work performance.

It’s summer and I’m sick of my black and grey suits. How can I spruce up without becoming a clown?
Color is a way to amplify your image with emotional appeal. Start small, with a scarf, tie or unique piece of jewelry. Color invites others to interact with you.

Choose color wisely

I’ve dedicated an entire chapter in Style Code to color choices and the emotions they evoke. Color and appropriateness can go hand in hand.
One at a time

There is no reason to go overboard on your color selections. One or two accent colors will usually do the trick to brighten a wardrobe choice.
Be expressive

There is always room for creativity with color. Try on a new broach or wear a pocket scarf.
Above all else, be authentic. Work within your Style Code and create an inviting color palate for successful interactions.
