Woman found shot to death in Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Authorities in western Pennsylvania have identified the body of a woman found shot to death along a dead-end street in Pittsburgh.

The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office said Wednesday that the body found Tuesday in the Homewood section of the city was that of 30-year-old Samantha Powe of Garfield.

Authorities said a motorist who was turning around because of a tree and power lines blocking the road following the storm spotted Powe’s body lying face down on Tuesday evening.

Officials said a neighbor reported hearing what sounded like gunshots in the area shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Pittsburgh homicide detectives are asking for help from the public as they try to determine a motive for the slaying and identify suspects.
