A Warren man is facing charges that allege he drunkenly crashed his car into a telephone pole with a 2-year-old in the backseat without a car seat.
Montez D. Roberts, 26, was arrested on suspicion of child endangering and drunken driving after he crashed his car at about 2 a.m. Thursday.
His breath test showed he had a .176 blood-alcohol content in his system, which is more than twice the legal limit.
Roberts, police said, was babysitting the boy and crashed the car because the boy was crying. He struck a telephone pole outside 942 Garden St. N.W.
Reports said the boy was taken to an area hospital, but do not say where or to what extent the boy was injured.
The driver fled from officers, reports said, and he was found inside a home in the 900 block of Garden Street with the boy and the boy’s mother.
Reports said Roberts was driving at the posted 25 miles per hour speed limit when he veered off the left side of the road.
