Oh Wow! is growing

Oh Wow! The Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science and Technology in Youngstown is planning a 3,000 square foot expansion.

The area will include a new exhibit dedicated to “making things” and a new classroom.

President and Executive Director Suzanne Barbati said the museum’s goal is to provide a safe environment for children and their families to experience hands-on exhibits to “work through this real-world process.”

“We want to encourage our visitors to understand the process of generating an idea, and the successes and failures that come with making that idea a reality,” Barbati said.

The expansion will be funded through a $25,000 grant from the Youngstown Foundation.

Construction has begun on the project and should be complete and open to the public by December 2013.
