Struthers man indicted on child sex charges

Court jury jail law order cell prison

A Struthers man was indicted Thursday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court for sexually abusing three family members.

Paul Taylor, 34, 269 Sexton St., is facing five counts of rape and two counts of gross sexual imposition. One of the rape charges carries a potential life prison sentence, according to court documents. His case was presented directly to a Mahoning County grand jury, meaning he has not been previously charged in the case.

According to the indictment, Taylor engaged in sexual conduct with a 13-year-old child between June 1, 2012, and Oct. 20, 2012, when the victim was only 12, which carries a life sentence if Taylor is convicted. It also states that Taylor engaged in sexual conduct with the same child four times between Oct. 21, 2012, and June 7 of this year, after the victim turned 13. The indictment states Taylor forced the victim to comply “by force or threat of force.”

The indictment also states that Taylor had sexual contact with two other family members between Oct. 12, 2012, and June 7 of this year. The ages of those victims are not listed on the indictment.
