Pa. woman killed in riding mower accident

LITITZ, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a Lancaster County woman was killed when her riding mower went over an embankment and pinned her underneath.

The body of 59-year-old Shirley Mae Swartz of Lititz was discovered by her husband Thursday night.

Northern Lancaster County Regional police Chief David Steffen says it appears the accident happened during the day on Wednesday. Swartz was alone at the time and her husband was away on a business trip.

The Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era ( ) says that Swartz had worked as a school bus driver for nearly 30 years. Her brother is the Lititz police chief.
