Youngstown police said a man walked into the police department Saturday with a gunshot wound to his back.
They identified the shooting victim as 39-year-old Mark Porter of Liberty.
Porter told police he was walking across the Market Street Bridge when two men pulled up in a silver Mitsubishi, pulled out a gun and attempted to rob him. He attempted to run away.
According to a police report, Porter heard at least six shots fire and the felt a burning sensation in his back. He told police he ran from the bridge to the police station to get help.
He was treated at St. Elizabeth’s Health Center and is in stable condition.
