One injured in car accident

The Youngstown Police and Fire Departments were were called to a car accident Monday on the city’s South Side

The accident happened just after 8:30 p.m. on Thalia Avenue. The driver may have suffered a medical condition before hitting a guardrail, another car and then striking a telephone pole head-on.

The driver was treated by paramedics at the scene. A passenger in the car did not appear to be injured.

The second car involved had minor damage.

The fire department was called in when the damaged car began smoking.
