Ohio men get 40 years in prison in toddler killing

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Two men convicted of shooting into an apartment and killing a toddler in northwest Ohio have been sentenced to 40 years to life in prison.

A judge in Toledo sentenced 21-year-old Keshawn Jennings and 19-year-old Antwaine Jones on Tuesday after a jury earlier this month found them guilty of aggravated murder and other charges.

Prosecutors say the pair mistakenly believed a rival gang member was inside when they shot into the sliding glass door of the apartment nearly a year ago.

A 1-year-old girl died in the shooting and her then 2-year-old sister was seriously injured. Three adults and an infant also were in the apartment but they were not injured.
