Commissioners support ox roast and parks employee

A Trumbull County MetroParks employee was honored and a local church received a check from county employees at the Trumbull County Commissioner’s meeting on Wednesday.

Trumbull County employees presented a $700 check to the Glenn Christian Foundation Church to help fund its Ox Roast and Car show. The money was raised thanks to employees who donated to dress down every Monday last month.

This is the 18th year for the festival, which runs Aug. 30 through Sept. 1 at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds. The ox roast began as a one-day church picnic and grew into an event that draws thousands of people. The Ox Roast and Car Show is free and open to the public.

Commissioners also honored MetroParks employee David Culp for his nine years of service. Culp was presented with several resolutions and a plaque. Culp spent three years as a volunteer maintaining county parks and bike trails before being hired as a part-time maintenance worker.

Culp said he has always treated the parks and bike trail as if they were his own.
