Ohio State Fair opens

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Ohio State Fair is kicking off in Columbus.

The opening ceremony for the annual fair is at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Ohio Expo grounds. Gov. John Kasich (KAY’-sihk) and his family will be among those in attendance for the opening and will get a guided tour of the grounds and exhibits.

Shows and exhibits scheduled for Wednesday include performances by the Ohio State Fair Band and Youth Choir, comedian Jeff Dunham and other artists, as well as the Junior Horse Show and a competition for plasterers and cement masons.

The fair, which includes a midway, daily entertainment, hundreds of exhibits and one of the largest junior fair shows in the nation, runs through Aug. 4.
