Warren firefighters rescued two people trapped in high flood waters overnight.

The high water filled the intersection of South Pine Avenue and Burton Street shortly before 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.

When firefighters arrived, they found two people trapped and standing on top of a car. Emergency crews brought in a boat to rescue the stranded motorists.

The fire department said it had earlier called the city street department to have that intersection blocked off because of the high water, but it is unclear if anyone ever set up the barricades.
