Woman drives car into creek at W. Pa. golf course

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Rescue crews were called after an elderly woman drove her car into a golf course creek near Pittsburgh.

Police say the woman was at the golf course to play bridge and accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake, TV station KDKA  reported Wednesday.

The car plunged down a hill and into Chartiers Creek, which is a water hazard on the McMurray golf course. That’s about 10 miles southwest of Pittsburgh.

Authorities say the water was up to the window of the car, and rescue crews used a pontoon boat to get the woman to shore.
