The General Motors Lordstown plant will be idle on the week of Aug. 26, according to sources.

Sources said the shutdown was mandated to align production of the Chevrolet Cruze built at the plant with market demand.

The Cruze sales set an all-time best monthly sales with 32,871 Cruzes sold in June.

June sales were up 73 percent over June 2012.

GM reported they’ve sold 264,843 Cruzes for the first half of 2013, which is a 17 percent increase over last year.
