Track and field day held at Youngstown summer camp

The Youngstown Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a summer camp program this summer.

More than 250 youngsters took part in a Track and Field Day Thursday at Cardinal Mooney High School. The program is part of the Youngstown Parks and Recreation Department’s summer camp.

The kids participated in several events including shot-put, running and long jump.

Organizers said they are trying to teach good sportsmanship and what competition is all about to the kids.

The next session of the summer camp is a field trip next Tuesday to the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh.
