Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a “terroristic threat” made at the General Electric plant in Mercer County.

According to police reports, someone found a written message on Thursday at the plant on Barkeyville Road in Pine Township that said the plant should close between July 25 and July 29 or a shooting will occur. The threat was written on a toilet paper roll found in a women’s restroom.

General Electric officials said in a response to an inquiry by WKBN.COM that “the safety and security of our employees is our first priority. We are working with authorities to investigate the matter and taking steps to make sure our employees are safe.”

Officials did not comment on what steps they are taking or the status of operations at the plant.
