Ex-homeless man due in court in Pa. woman’s death

YORK, Pa. (AP) — A formerly homeless man is due in court to answer charges that he killed a woman who let him stay at her central Pennsylvania home.

The decomposing body of 57-year-old Sandra Mulder was found June 2 in her York County home, her hands and legs bound with pink duct tape.

Thirty-two-year-old Bryan Brackbill Jr. was arrested in Missouri, after highway patrol officers using an automated license plate scanner spotted Brackbill driving Mulder’s car on Interstate 70.

Investigators say Brackbill was homeless before he moved in with Mulder about a year ago.

Brackbill is represented by the York County public defender’s office, which couldn’t be reached for comment before business hours Monday.

He has pleaded not guilty and faces a preliminary hearing Monday morning before a district judge, who must determine if there’s enough evidence for him to stand trial.
