Ex-teacher in Ohio convicted of sex offense

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — A former high school teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old male student has pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in southwest Ohio.

Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. says 28-year-old Kelsey Hartmann was convicted Monday on the third-degree felony charge. Heck says the former Wayne High School teacher engaged in sexual activity with the teenager who was a student at the high school in the Dayton suburb of Huber Heights.

Heck says investigators found that Hartmann and the student committed sex acts on three occasions. He says the Centerville woman resigned from the school and will surrender her teaching certificate.

Hartmann could get up to five years in prison at her Aug. 26 sentencing.

Hartmann’s attorney declined to comment Monday.
