COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say they have rescued one child who was forced into prostitution and arrested three people described as pimps in Ohio as part of a three-day law enforcement operation across the United States.
The FBI on Monday announced its Cleveland division recovered the child in northwest Ohio and made one arrest during the sweep.
The bureau’s Cincinnati office reported the arrest of two people during the campaign knows as “Operation Cross Country.”
Authorities rescued a total of 105 children and arrested 150 pimps in 76 American cities. The victims, almost all girls, range in age from 13 to 17. The largest numbers of children rescued were in San Francisco, Detroit, Milwaukee, Denver and New Orleans.
The FBI says the campaign has resulted in 2,700 children rescued since 2003.
