A Youngstown man was hospitalized and is facing charges after the resident of a Campbell home he broke into came home from lunch and shot him.

Andre Madison, 22, is suspected of breaking into the Gladstone Street home at about 10 a.m. Monday. He was shot in the leg by the resident and was treated and released from St. Elizabeth Health Center.

He was arrested on aggravated burglary and felonious assault charges.

Police said Madison kicked in the door to the home. The homeowner returned home from lunch and the two exchanged gunfire, police said. Madison jumped out of a second-story window and fled.

Police apprehended him at a drive through on Belmont Avenue in Youngstown with a gunshot wound to the leg. A female picked Madison up and drove him to the drive through, then called 911.

Police said Madison told her he suffered in the injury in a drive-by shooting.
