Syrian TV: Troops capture key Homs neighborhood

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) — Syrian state TV says troops have fully captured a neighborhood that was one of the rebels’ key strongholds in the embattled city of Homs.

Monday’s announcement came a month after Syrian troops started an all-out offensive to retake rebel-held neighborhoods in Syria’s third largest city.

Khaldiyeh has been held by rebels since 2011.

Opposition activists have reported major government gains in Khaldiyeh but have not confirmed its complete capture.
