An eyesore in Boardman came down on Wednesday.

Wrecking crews demolished the Terrace Motel on Market Street.

The building has been vacant for seven years. Police encountered problems with drug activity and prostitution in the building since.

A $25,000 Community Development Block Grant was awarded to the township by Mahoning County Commissioners to cover the demolition cost.

It’s the first of several vacant buildings the township has planned to demolish with $175,000 in grant money.

The township hopes to demolish 25 homes by the end of the year.
