Bride-to-be killed in NY boat crash is remembered

PEARL RIVER, N.Y. (AP) — The mother of a bride-to-be killed in a suburban New York boat crash is urging the grieving groom to use the wreck as “a source of strength.”

Carol Stewart-Kosik (KOH’-sihk) spoke Thursday at the funeral of her daughter. The service was held at the church in Pearl River where Lindsey Stewart would have married Brian Bond next week.

Stewart-Kosik, standing at the altar, told Bond that her daughter loved him with “every fiber of her being.”

After speaking, she went to his pew and hugged him.

Stewart and Bond were in a boat that smashed into a barge Friday night on the Hudson River. Their best man also was killed. The powerboat’s operator faces charges of vehicular manslaughter.
