Cruze sets July record

The Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cruze had its best July ever.

The Cruze has had its best three-month stretch ever, setting records for May, June and July sales.

General Motors reported Thursday they sold 25,447 Cruzes in July,  more than 10,000 more than July 2012.

They have sold 159,136 Cruzes in 2013, a 23.5 percent increase over the same time period in 2012. Those numbers include the 81,373 sold in the last three months.

The Cruze set an all-time record for sales in a single month with 32,871 sold in June. They also had their best May ever, selling 23,055.

Overall, GM sold 234,071 vehicles in July, a 16 percent year-over-year increase. Chevrolet had a 31 percent increase in car sales, due to Cruze’s, Impala’s and Spark’s success.

GM has sold 1,177,804 cars in 2013, a 10 percent increase over the first seven months of 2012.
