The Boardman 11-year-old girls’ Little League All-Star softball team won the first-ever state title in that age group with 12-4 victory over Tallmadge.
Logan Menosky tossed six innings and finished with 12 strikeouts, while Melissa Davanzo drove in four runs in the victory.
Jersey Gorby was solid defensively for Boardman.
Head coach Brian Gorby was thrilled to bring the trophy back home:
“It’s something the girls will remember the rest of their lives. To come up big in a pressure situation is a credit to them. To do well in every phase of a championship game is not something you see all the time. It’s been tremendous,” Gorby said.
