1 killed, 1 injured in Erie County crash

SANDUSKY, Ohio (AP) — Authorities report a northwest Ohio woman has been killed and another seriously injured in a 2-car crash in northwest Ohio.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said 73-year-old Juanita Crawford of Sandusky died Friday after failing to yield at a stop sign at the intersection of Bogart Road and Campbell Street in Perkins Township, Erie County.

Crawford’s 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix pulled into the path of a vehicle driven by 75-year-old Irene Mann of Vickery at around 3:30 p.m. Friday. Mann’s 2002 Ford Taurus struck Crawford’s vehicle on the driver’s side.

Crawford was fatally injured and Mann sustained incapacitating injuries and was taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center. Both women were wearing their seat belts.

The patrol is investigating the crash, which closed the intersection for two hours.
