Scrappers Win Again

The Scrappers held off the home-standing Tigers this evening, 6-3. Mahoning Valley (20-25) has now won 12 of their last 15 games.

The Scrappers jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the third inning to give Robert Whitenack a cushion which he would not relinquish. Whitenack went six innings, struck out five, walked none, and allowed four base hits. Ben Heller finished the final three innings to record his second save of the season.

James Roberts and Sicnarf Loopstok both had two hits a piece while Juan Romero went deep for his fourth homer on the season.

Mahoning Valley will close out their three-game set with Connecticut on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. The Scrappers will return home to Niles on Tuesday to take on Lowell.
