Several community organizations are teaming up this weekend to offer various events throughout Youngstown.

The Community Initiative to Reduce Violence (C.I.R.V.) helped bring together the church and community action groups.

On Saturday, they will host events ranging from a golf outing to a food giveaway and a “Let’s Move” block party. The different organizations are getting kids and their families ready to head back to school.

“What I’m excited about is that they decided to come together to make sure we’re not duplicating resources, but that we’re spreading them out so everyone stays in their lane and the community gets what it needs,” said Guy Burney, C.I.R.V. coordinator.
