The home in Newton Falls where three people were fatally shot last year in one of the deadliest mass murders in recent Trumbull County history will be demolished.

Village officials said Thursday they bought the 72A Trumbull Court home where Rikki Cogley, Kathy Cogley and teenager Everett Greathouse were fatally shot and will demolish it on Monday.

WKBN.COM uncovered last month that Rikki Cogley’s ex-brother-in-law Rob Brazzon Sr. fatally shot the trio with a 5-year-old and 12-year-old inside the home because he believed the victims were stealing his illegally obtained drugs. He had beaten and fatally shot his girlfriend, Tracey Engler, who he also believed stole his drugs, in the back of the head at their 604 Newton Drive home before killing the Cogleys and Greathouse.

Village officials said they intend to expand the park next to the home, where family members said Greathouse, 15, used to play.

Brazzon shot the four because he believed Engler was stealing from his large hoard of illegally obtained prescription drugs he used to fuel a longstanding addiction and ease pain caused by a variety of ailments.

He shot Rikki Cogley because he had a long-standing feud with him, some of which involved drugs.

Brazzon then shot himself inside Newton Falls Cemetery. Suicide notes found at the scene indicated Brazzon was in pain, had health issues and that Engler “stole his meds.” Some said he had an urge to kill and others said he was unable to control his pain.
