Police: W. Pa. couple confront intruder with bats

ALIQUIPPA, Pa. (AP) — Police say a western Pennsylvania couple kept a drunken intruder at bay with baseball bats until officers could arrive.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for 20-year-old James Pratchenko, of Center Township. He faces a preliminary hearing Monday on charges including burglary, prowling and public drunkenness.

The Beaver County Times (http://bit.ly/195xEIF ) says Aliquippa police were called to the Roberta and Robert Allison’s home about 3:50 a.m. Sunday after she heard a noise and found a strange man in the kitchen. Police say the couple both grabbed bats and kept the man in their home until officers arrived.

Police say Pratchenko told them he followed and unknown person into the house after his cellphone was stolen. Police say Pratchenko was drunk.

He doesn’t have a listed home phone.

Aliquippa is about 20 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.
