Report: Men fought near police station

Youngstown Police

A Youngstown man was charged late Wednesday with trying to slash a man dating his ex-girlfriend in front of a police officer.

Lee Kimble, 52, was charged with second-degree felonious assault and misdemeanor inducing panic after an officer saw Kimble slash the man’s face during a dispute a block away from the police department downtown.

Reports said Kimble and another man argued over the woman at about 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Hazel and Federal streets.

The officer noted he saw Kimble pull out a large folding knife and try to slash at the man’s face several times.

The officer ordered Kimble to drop the knife. The man put the knife on the hood of the cruiser and a bag of suspected crack cocaine fell from his hands.
