A Boardman man is facing drug trafficking charges stemming from a cell phone theft at Southern Park Mall.

Police apprehended Jeremy J. Jones, of Shields Road, on Wednesday after officers pulled his car over on Market Street outside the Forrest Lawn Cemetery. He was arrested on charges of trafficking in marijuana and receiving stolen property.

Officers pulled Jones over after recognizing his description as a suspect in a cell phone theft earlier in the day at Southern Park Mall.

Reports said Jones eventually admitted to taking the cell phone and said it was at his home. Police went to his home with Jones and noticed a Weight Watchers scale with marijuana residue on it.

Officers reported finding a marijuana grinder, a box of rolling papers and a box with 48 grams of marijuana inside. Jones initially denied the marijuana was his, but eventually admitted it was, reports said.
