Man charged with plotting wife’s murder in NE Ohio

WILLOUGHBY HILLS, Ohio (AP) — A northeast Ohio man has been charged with plotting with a romantically involved teenage foster daughter to kill his wife.

The indictment returned by a Lake County grand jury charged 43-year-old Kevin Knoefel (keh-NAY’-fel) of Willoughby Hills with conspiracy to commit aggravated murder and complicity to aggravated murder.

His wife, 41-year-old Lisa Knoefel, was found stabbed to death in their home last November.

Their foster daughter, 18-year-old Sabrina Zunich, is awaiting trial on a murder charge.

The indictment announced Friday says the husband and foster daughter were romantically involved. He’s charged with six counts of sexual battery stemming from his role as a foster father.

Court records don’t reflect an attorney representing Knoefel. He was arrested Friday by Willoughby Hills police and faces arraignment Monday.
