Air National Guard unit training over NW Ohio

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Northwest Ohio residents should expect some extra noise and the sight of fighter jets in the skies as an Ohio Air National Guard unit steps up training.

The 180th Fighter Wing plans increased training flights Sunday and Monday. The flights usually take place during daylight hours, but training these two days will run from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Toledo unit says nearby residents probably will hear loud booms, sirens and loudspeaker messages during simulated scenarios for training. A statement says the readiness training is to make sure the forces are prepared for deployment.
