Youngstown firefighters battled a fire on the city’s East Side Monday morning.

Flames broke out around 3:40 a.m. at a home on Kenneth Street. When crews arrived, flames were shooting through the roof.

The man who lives in the house was not home at the time of the fire.

A cause or damage estimate has not been determined.

Just a few hours later, crews were called to the North Side for a vacant house fire.

Firefighters were called around 8:30 a.m. to a house on Madison Avenue, just behind JD Supermarket on Belmont Avenue.

Smoke was seen coming from the second story of the house.

The fire was extinguished quickly. No injuries were reported.

A cause has not been determined.
