Class of 1943 gathers in Lisbon

A gathering of Lisbon High School graduates met for their 70th reunion Wednesday.

Sixteen members of the Class of 1943 met at the Taste of County Pinetree Inn in Lisbon for a get together to talk over old times and how things have been over the years.

Wilbur Cook helped organized the reunion and said one classmate came from North Carolina to get together with old friends.

Cook said he has seen a lot of changes in world and in Lisbon since he left high school.

“We grew up with a horse and buggy, and we didn’t have electricity until the war was over,” said Cook. “Before I was 18, I hitch hiked to North Dakota just for the fun of it and on $20.”

Cook said the reunions used to be more regular, but now the group gets together when they can.
